What's great about energy savings is that anyone can do it. It doesn't take a large metropolitan city to enact change, it just takes some dedication. Take Murray City, Ohio for example.
Beginning in October 2010, and the 14 months that followed, Murray City enacted a block-by-block energy retrofit project that weatherized three-quarters of the town's homes.
With less than 500 residents, Murray City took its inspiration recently resigned Energy Secretary Steven Chu. The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) coordinated with energy retrofit project in Murray City.
Upgrades included duct system sealing, foundation insulation, low-flow shower heads, and energy-efficient appliances.
