Going All in with Renewable Energy
Could the goal of using 100 percent renewable energy a realistic and achievable goal? A good example of this is in Greensburg, KS. After a massive tornado leveled the town, they set out and rebuild it as one of the world’s greenest communities. But Greensburg isn’t the only one.
Currently there are 42 cities, 49 regions, 8 utilities, and 21 organizations are going all green. And nations are even taking action including eight nations that are 100 percent renewable or moving in that direction including Denmark, Iceland, Scotland, Costa Rica, Maldive Islands, Cook Islands, Tuvalu, and Tokelau.
The Renewables 100 Policy Institute was founded in the early years of renewable energy, when the concept was too “bleeding edge” for established nonprofits.
“Now that is starting to change,” said Diane Moss, the institutes founding director. In fact, the first international conference in April drew more than 200 people. Today, the Renewables 100 Policy Institute is actively supporting the trend and reports on global progress.
