Top City for Energy Savings is Boston
A new report from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy ranks America’s 34 largest cities on what they are doing to save energy and costs in five key areas.
The 2013 City Energy Efficiency Scorecard found that the top cities are Boston, Portland, and New York and San Francisco tied at third. The report includes recommendations and strategies for all cities to lower energy use.
The top cities all showed a strong local leadership and commitment to energy efficiency; however, the ACEEE says all cities have significant room for improvement.
The report is the first to rank cities exclusively on energy efficiency efforts. Cities were evaluated on five key areas of energy reduction including buildings, transportation, energy and water utility efforts, local government operations, and community-wide initiatives.
