While the U.S. does not rank very high in the global race for green buildings, it doesn’t mean we aren’t. In fact, Lux Research found that venture capitalists have invested more than $4 billion in the race to build greener buildings, and “they are now looking at new innovative technologies to further develop this space,” according to the research firm.
Since 2000, there were 332 venture investment rounds in technology and materials developers for green buildings. Last year, nearly 50% of the funding were late-stage investments, “signaling the maturation of the first wave of green buildings start-ups.”
The Lux report also found interesting green business trends including how integrated design is the future, and how on-site generation is a growth area.
Investing in a green building, or retrofitting commercial buildings into becoming more energy efficient, is an emerging trend, but can also provide benefits to businesses right now.
With energy-saving rebates and incentives in the Kansas City area, local businesses can see most of their project paid for, and see a shorter return on investment. Schedule a facility review now and see how much we can save you on energy costs.
